Sugar Creek Residence

Kitchen retreat

Steve designed this Kirkwood kitchen as a true working kitchen beautiful enough to be open on the adjacent living spaces. Perimeter cabinets are rustic alder, stained and glazed to complement the architectural salvage timbers and millwork. The substantial island base is walnut with a soapstone top. The top shelf of the ingenious stainless-steel place-setting cubbies behind the sink doubles as a service counter for the deck just outside the windows. The open working pantry extends the kitchen, providing some “out-of-sight” workspace.
